Stephan co-founded YouGov in 2000. One of the pioneers of Internet research, he has been the driving force behind YouGov’s innovation-led strategy. He was chair of the Data Strategy Board for the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills 2012–2013 and led the Shakespeare Review of Public Sector Information. He is a commissioner for the Social Metrics Commission, and an Affiliated Researcher at the Bennett Institute for Public Policy, Cambridge University, where his work is focused on the public dimensions of globalisation and tracking attitudes to public policy.
